I'm going to LONDON!

England that is, not Ontario!

First I'll be exhibiting at the International Jewelry London show which will be pretty cool on it's own.  I mean, the diamonds and gold at the show won't know what to do with the bowling balls.  Best of all this event is held at the historic Earls Court.  If you own the Led Zepplin box set from 1990something you know that they played there in 1970something, so you know it's historic.

A couple days after that I'll be in the London Gift Show which is also super cool.  My Lord could it get any better??

Well, uh, yeah, it can.

I have the honour (British spelling) and privilege of donating 400+ pieces of my jewelry to the attendees of the SPLASH OF PINK FASHION SHOW AND COUTURE TEA. of which I will be one, to be held at the home of Dwina and Robin Gibb (yes, BeeGees).

Here's a list of some of the sponsors and partners for the event (including me!)

I am sooooooooo thrilled!  This is gonna be GREAT!!!!!

BOWLEXPO IN LAS VEGAS

I really didn't know what to expect.  I mean, what were these people going to say to me?  Jewelry from bowling balls?  Huh?  The pillars of the bowling industry were about to get a shock!

All I gotta say is this..........standing next to Mike Aulby, Walter Ray, Norm Duke, Parker Bohn III......these are the bowlers I watched growing up.  I could hardly believe it.  Also good friend and Storm PBA bowler Tim Mack was there.  Also Women's bowling great Lynda Barnes was there in my booth........the whole thing was just mind blowing.  I think every one of those bowlers is in the Hall of Fame.

In typcial and perhaps predictable Las Vegas surreal-style, all these pros had great things to say about the jewelry and many positive words of encouragement.  To top it all off, many of the show attendees dropped some cash in my booth and took home some of the best jewelry made from recycled bowling balls they ever had a chance to buy!  I was humbled.

I think I'm onto something.  You?

Teasing you is FUN

PDF | Print | E-mail

HI!  Everything ok?  I am having a lot of fun posting on facebook albums filled with attractive jewelry you need  but you can't buy on my web site yet!  Ha ha ha haaaaaaa!  Tease! Tease!  Really though, I am waiting for my horoscope to tell me it's time to start selling things, and so far it hasn't told me anything, and so you'll have to wait.

No.  The truth is that these days I am creating loads of inventory to take to the number of shows I'll be exhibiting at in the month of July.  The plan is to put it all online within a week of my writing this, and there will be a few other details to attend to regarding the sale of all my jewelry online.  Most folks look at the photos and say stuff like, "I want THAT one!" The truth is that it might not be possible to have that one because that particular one was sold last month to someone, or given to my darling mother because I love her more than you.

So, you'll have to adhere to the "preferences not promises" policy regarding colors when ordering.  You can see how this could get sticky for me.  The other issue is balls.  I mean, what if the black swirled with yellow swirled with lime green balls I'm recycling all get turned into earrings and there's nothing left of the ball (hurray)?  You gonna go nuts because I sent you the black swirled with purple and green instead?

ANyhow...........things keep rolling forward!  It's all good!

Stainless and Movie

PDF | Print | E-mail

So, it's been quite a while since I've posted to my blog.  Certainly there is something in the works, right??

Right!

The past month has been quite a month indeed.  IN SHORT, the new designs in hypo-allergenic, tarnish-free, non-rusting, white and shiny surgical stainless steel are coming along quite nicely.  I think they are going to be totally hot hot hot!!!  I'm still sticking by sterling silver for the ears, but the other designs rock.  I'm gonna do well with these.  Yer gonna love them.

It's funny though..........also in the past month, I've been making calls..........sales calls.........trying to get people on the hook to distribute my lovely jewelry made from recycled bowling balls.  The bowling industry is totally polarized.  Most of the women I talk to love it whether they're bowlers or not.   The jewelry is interesting after all.  But the men who are bowlers say to me, "$36 for a bracelet made from bowling balls?!  For $150 I can buy the whole ball!"  As if it doesn't matter they're winding up in the garbage?  As if you aren't slicing them up in your garage?  This is too funny.  Perhaps even more funny, their wives butt in and say, "But this is soooooo interesting and cool and pretty!  Buy me something now dear!"  Husbands hesitantly pull out their wallets.  I love that part.  I smile when I take their money.  Their wives reorder. Ha ha ha.  I don't want to sound arrogant here, but it's hard not to.

Ya think someone's missin' the point?

The clock is ticking closer to my magical trip back to Michigan.  There I'll be exhibiting at the Royal Oak Art Fair.  Later in the month I'll be in Gaylord.  After that show I'll go fishing and visit family in Traverse City.  I'm a Michigander at heart for sure!

In other exciting news, with the help of a celebrity filmmaker, I am in the process of creating a promotional video which I will post on YouTube!  This is all I can say at the moment.  If I revealed more, it would only give away the secret.  All I can say for now is that someone very very very very cool and internationally celebrated is editing a short movie/promo video for me, and I am humbled to be working with such a cool and influential person.

The lesson for all to learn here is this:  do something wacko like make jewelry from bowling balls and you too could have the chance to meet, hang out with, and convice to work for you for free, an international film star!  Wow!!!
